A Taste of Alaska Lodge – A Unique Lodging Experience in Fairbanks, Alaska
The story of A Taste of Alaska Lodge began in 1947 when Walter Eberhardt and his wife, Dorothy, homesteaded 160 acres in Fairbanks, Alaska. Walter, originally from Idaho, sought employment and opportunity in the Last Frontier. Together, they established a vegetable and hay farm, with Walter building a small home that would eventually grow to include three additions and a basement.
In 1992, Walter’s son, David, and his wife, Debbie, expanded the family homestead to 280 acres and founded A Taste of Alaska Lodge. The main lodge was built in 1994, marking the start of a family-run business that continues to bring joy to visitors from around the world, year-round.
A Taste of Alaska Lodge offers a refreshing alternative to traditional Fairbanks hotels, combining the charm of a family homestead with the comforts of modern lodging. Debbie’s collection of antiques and artifacts, displayed throughout the property, adds a unique touch to the experience. While Debbie managed the day-to-day operations, Dave contributed his maintenance and construction expertise, skills he learned from his father.
For a one-of-a-kind experience in Fairbanks, whether you're seeking a peaceful retreat or an adventurous getaway, A Taste of Alaska Lodge is the perfect destination. Immerse yourself in the beauty and history of this family-owned gem, where the Alaskan spirit comes to life.
